Produced by Philippians Productions and directed by Enzo Williams, this historical action drama film is an official entry to the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival and a winner of various awards including Best Picture.
Bonifacio Ang Unang Pangulo Plot
This Andres Bonifacio biopic starts with the execution of three Filipino Catholic priests (Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora), also known as GOMBURZA on February 17, 1872. Jose Rizal (Jericho Rosales) was also shown establishing the La Liga Filipina on July 3, 1892. After Rizal was arrested by the Spaniards, Bonifacio decided to form the Katipunan.
This blockbuster movie also featured the political indifference between Emilio Aguinaldo and Andres Bonifacio until Aguinaldo was elected president of the Philippines, and the arrest of Bonifacio as ordered by Aguinaldo. Nevertheless, it included scenes of present times when high school students learned about the truth that Bonifacio is the “real” first Philippine president.
