Kailangan Koy Ikaw Movie is the first team-up film of Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez.
Produced by Viva Films and directed by Bb Joyce Bernal, this blockbuster romantic comedy movie features the hit song of the same title, composed by Ogie Alcacid and sung by Regine Velasquez, as well as the cover version of “Tuwing Umuulan.”
Kailangan Koy Ikaw Movie Plot
In this movie, Robin Padilla plays Guillermo ‘Gimo’ Talumpati, an auto mechanic living a simple life. On the other hand, Regine Velasquez plays Francine Natra, a famous singer, and daughter of a politician. But despite being rich and famous, she feels empty in her life and wanted to escape the limelight.
The two met when Gimo’s friend entered his name for a promo contest called “Date With A Star” wherein the winner will have a chance to date Francine. But when he won, the date was cut short after an actor-suitor of Francine arrived. Because of this, Gimo abducted Francine and her assistant and continued their date in a vacant lot.
Later, Francine decided to visit Gimo’s house to attend his younger sister’s birthday. And although this started their romantic, their difference in status in life will create a problem. As a whole, critics praised the movie but some of them described the story as somehow similar to the 1999 Hollywood movie ‘Notting Hill” starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
