Diary ng Panget (lit. Diary of an Ugly Person) (also known as Diary ng Panget: The Movie) is a 2014 Filipino teen romantic comedy film based on the best-selling novel of the same name written and published on Wattpad by Denny R.
Despite its box office success, with its gross revenue of over PHP 120 million, Diary ng Panget was heavily panned by most critics, with its initial mixed reviews, claiming that the story and the cast have a lack of formula and effort. The film is one of the first stories originally from Wattpad.
Diary ng Panget Plot
The plot surrounds the life of Eya (Nadine Lustre) a kind-hearted girl who has faced several difficulties in life. orphaned at the age of 14, her aunt adopts her but kicks her out as soon as she turns 18. Unable to make ends meet, she gets a new job as a nanny only to realize she has to look after Cross (James Reid), an egoistic young man who she calls the “monster”.
Diary ng Panget is a mixture of romance, comedy, and drama, and is a much film for teenagers. The film also helped popularize the JaDine duo.
