Dementia Movie is a Philippine horror film starring Superstar Nora Aunor as Mara Fabre, a middle-aged woman who was diagnosed with dementia.
Produced by Octobertrain Films and The IdeaFirst Company and released via Regal Films, this award-winning Nora Aunor indie film is directed by Perci Intalan, in his directorial debut, and was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
Dementia Movie Plot
At the start of the movie, Mara is accompanied back to her hometown in Basco, Batanes by her younger cousin Elaine (Bing Loyzaga) Rommel, Elaine’s husband (Yul Servo), and their daughter Rachel (Jasmine Curtis-Smith) to help her recall her lost memories.
Despite not returning to her hometown for 37 years, Mara still seems to remember the path, apparently showing signs that she can get cured. But shortly after they arrived at her old house, Mara starts to see ghosts and apparitions. Along the process, Rachel wonders if this is true or if her aunt did something mysterious before and is now haunting her.
This Nora Aunor Dementia movie won various local and international awards. This includes Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, and Special Award for Best Language Usage Won in the 17th Gawad Pasado Awards.
It also won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Lead Actress in a Foreign Language Film at the St. Tropez International Film Festival in France.
