Block Z is a Philippine zombie film directed by Mikhail Red. It follows a group of university students who try to survive the undead during a deadly viral outbreak. The film is released on January 29, 2020, and is one of the first major Filipino zombie films.
Block Z will mark the sixth feature film for director Mikhail Red, following Rekorder (2013), Birdshot (2016), Neomanila (2017), Eerie (2019), and Dead Kids (2019).
The film is also said to be Red’s “most ambitious project yet”. Filming began in March 2019 and ended in July 2019.

Block Z is a typical zombie film where protagonists need to kill as many zombies as they can in order to survive. Many said the film is based on Brad Pitt’s World War Z and some also taken from the Korean box office hit Train to Busan. Nevertheless, fans of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia can still enjoy the thrilling scenes.
Block Z is nothing more nor less than a video game where the object is to either kill as many of the infected as you can or run away from them to reach the promised rescue.
