Produced by The IdeaFirst Company and directed by Prime Cruz, this Pinoy indie romance horror thriller film won Best Director and Best Supporting Actress for Vangie Labalan at the 2016 QCinema International Film Festival.
Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B Movie Plot Summary
In this movie, Ryza Cenon plays Jewel, a young lonely woman who lives alone in her apartment unit and has no friends or relatives at all. She teaches Tagalog to foreigners over the Internet and watches TV and at night, she hunts men for food before she fully transforms into a manananggal.
To avoid being a suspect, Jewel disposes of her victims as drug pushers so the people might think they were victims of EJK (extrajudicial killing).
Nevertheless, Jewel feels guilty every time she kills someone and obviously wanted to live like an ordinary human. One day, Jewel had a new neighbor – gym trainer Nico (Martin del Rosario) and his grandmother (Vangie Labalan) and she became friends with them. Shortly, Jewel starts to fall in love with Nico and he seems to like her too. But what if Nico discovers her dark secret? Will he be Jewel’s next victim?
