Produced by APT Entertainment, Arkeo Films, and Unitel Pictures, this film for Gawad Kalinga (GK) has three stories of hope – “Umiyak Man Ang Langit” directed by Ricky Davao; “Ang Kapatid Kong Si Elvis” directed by Jun Lana, and “Marie” directed by Joel Ruiz.
Paraiso Tatlong Kwento ng Pag-asa Plot Summary
In “Umiyak Man Ang Langit”, Maricel Soriano plays Jocelyn Llorente, whose loved ones and hundreds of fellow residents died in the mudslides of St. Bernard, Southern Leyte in 2006.
Among the victims are her younger, pregnant sister Martha (Jennifer Sevilla), and one of their four children with her husband, Nilo (Nonie Buencamino). But despite the horrifying tragedy, residents helped each other in rebuilding their houses.
In “Ang Kapatid Kong Si Elvis”, Didoy (Michael V) and Diday (Carmi Martin) are a happily married couple and GK volunteers who have a son, Pepe (Gian Bernabe). Later, they adopted a young neglected boy, Elvis (Paulken Bustillo). In the “Marie” episode, widower Rudy Abad (Cesar Montano) decides to build a village in the Philippines in memory of his American wife Marie, who died in the September 11 attacks in the US.
