Metamorphosis is a 2019 Filipino coming-of-age indie film written and directed by Jose Enrique Tiglao and produced by Bella Tiglao, Sarah P. Brakensiek, and Jose Enrique Tiglao. Starring Gold Aceron in its leading role, the film was given an R-16 rating by the MTRCB.
At the 2019 ABS-CBN’s Cinema One Originals Film Festival, the film won the Best Indie Film award and Best Indie Film Director award (for Tiglao).
Metamorphosis Movie Plot
Gold Azeron plays the character of Adam, a schoolboy who found out that he’s intersex. He lives together with his devout Christian parents Elena (Yayo Aguila) and Edgar (Ricky Davao), a town pastor who often conducts worship sessions in front of their home.
Boisterous and rowdy despite his conservative Christian upbringing, Adam often squabbles with his classmate he labeled as “supot” (Dylan Ray Talon). A budding romance formed in the middle of the school year between Adam and a newly transferred student, Angel (Iana Bernardez), after some time of bonding over simple things.
One day, Adam unexpectedly discovered that he had a period and found out that he has two genitalia. With his father strictly following the bible’s doctrine, which dictates his life, and the addition of Dr. Tolentino (Ivan Padilla) as his object of desire, Adam faced an existential crisis and a world of uncertainty in his discovery.
