Mano Po 6 A Mother’s Love stars Megastar Sharon Cuneta as a Chinese billionaire widow whose three of her children were taken away by her husband’s family when they were still young. Produced by Regal Entertainment, this Joel Lamangan film is an official entry to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival and won 8 major awards out of 24 nominations from various award-giving bodies.
Mano Po 6 A Mother’s Love Movie Plot Summary
In the movie, Sharon Cuneta plays Melinda Uy, a daughter of a Chinese immigrant and a Filipino small businessman. But because she was the only half-Chinese in the Chinese community, she became a victim of discrimination and dubbed her bad luck to them. As a young woman, Melinda (Glaiza de Castro) married a young Chinese man Alfonso Uy (JC de Vera), a son of a wealthy clan. However, his family disinherits him.
Melinda (Cuneta) and Alfonso (Christopher De Leon) started a small business and had 4 children, including Carol (Ciara Sotto) and Stephanie (Heart Evangelista). However, several misfortunes happened including Alfonso’s sudden death, and his family took away their children from Melinda except for Carol. In addition, Alfonso’s sister Olive Uy (Zsa Zsa Padilla) did not treat Melinda well and Stephanie hated her mother. But when Melinda became a billionaire, she gets even with them and tried to reconcile with Stephanie.
