Mano Po 5 Gua Ai Di (I Love You) stars Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez in a touching love story drama-comedy divided by the difference in cultures of Chinese and Filipinos. Produced by Regal Entertainment, this Joel Lamangan film is an official entry to the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival and won 4 major awards including Best Cinematography for Charlie Peralta and Best Production Design for Egay Littua.
Mano Po 5 Gua Ai Di Movie Plot Summary
In this movie, Angel Locsin plays Charity Co, a young Chinese woman and a daughter of Williamson Co (Tirso Cruz III) and Yolanda Co (Lorna Tolentino). On the other hand, Richard Gutierrez plays Dr. Jonathan “Nathan” Ramirez, a young Filipino veterinarian and Charity’s boyfriend. However, Charity’s parents are very strict when it comes to following Chinese traditions, especially the Chinese only to marry fellow Chinese.
Nevertheless, Nathan was brave enough to face Charity’s parents and tried to embrace the Chinese culture, and studied some Chinese words and phrases, including Gua Ai Di (I Love You). But in the process, there were a lot of comical incidents. One day, Timothy Lam (Christian Bautista), Charity’s childhood sweetheart and now known as Asian pop singer Felix Yan returned to the Philippines and courted her. Will Charity still follow her heart and disobey her family?
