Produced by Regal Films and directed by Elwood Perez, this Vilma-Gary V movie won 8 major awards out of 10 nominations and elevated Vilma Santos to FAMAS Hall of Fame for Best Actress.
Ibulong Mo sa Diyos Movie Plot
In this movie, Vilma Santos plays Monica Quijano, a dancer for her singer-boyfriend Gilbert (Gary Valenciano), who left her for a singing contract in Japan. One day, Monica’s brother died and Nelia (Nida Blanca), Monica’s mother was forced to sell their house to her cruel sister-in-law Portia (Armida Siguion-Reyna).
And because Monica did not want to live with her cruel aunt, she left her and stayed in Manila with Emil (Eric Quizon), Gilbert’s close friend. There, she also met Mario Umali (Miguel Rodriguez), a dance choreographer who later raped her. Gilbert then returns to the country but only to dump Monica because of the incident.
Monica became a victim of a hit and run, and Emmanuel Vera (Eddie Garcia) brought her to a hospital, and she later became blind. But because Emil knows he has brain cancer and he was so in love with her, he gave his eyes to her before he died. Meanwhile, Emmanuel is willing to marry her.
