Produced by Angie Castrence, Jun Robles Lana, and Ferdinand Lapuz and directed by Perci Intalan, this family drama indie film won a Best Supporting Actress award for Therese Malvar at the 2018 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
Distance Movie Plot Summary
The movie starts with Liza (Iza Calzado) on a beach in England mourning the loss of her loved one. But when she got home, there was an unexpected visitor – her estranged husband Anton (Nonie Buencamino) whom she left five years ago along with their two daughters, teenager Karla (Therese Malvar), and Therese (Alessandra Malonzo). To Liza’s surprise, Anton invites her to come back to them in the Philippines.
Liza agreed, but her reunion with her family was not easy. First, their children did not know about it and Liza’s decision to leave them has created a deep wound especially to Karla. Liza and Karla had dramatic moments in their painful conversations. Slowly, a dark secret from the past and Liza’s reason for her leaving will be revealed. And yes, the story might be simple but the actors were great and the climax is worth watching.
