Ang Panday Movie is a Filipino action-fantasy film starring Fernando Poe Jr. This film was an adaptation of Carlo J. Caparas’ comic series Panday, and was serialized in Pilipino Komiks during the late 1970s.
The movie was then followed by three other sequels, also featuring Poe as Flavio which were shown at the Metro Manila Film Festival in their respective years.
Ang Panday Movie Plot
In this movie, FPJ played the role of Flavio, a “Panday” (or blacksmith) whose village and land are under the reign of the tyrant played by Max Alvarado as Lizardo. When a meteor fell from the sky one night witnessed by Tata Temyong (Lito Anzures), he forged the metal from the meteor together with an old bell into a dagger, the balaraw.
When he raises the dagger to the sky, it magically grows into a sword. He uses this magical sword to hunt down Lizardo’s men in the village with the help of Tatang Temyong, his young apprentice Lando (Bentot Jr.), and Monica (Liz Alindogan) as they free the land.
On their way to fight the evil Lizardo, they came across some of Lizardo’s henchmen which are also supernatural beings; a wizard, a siyokoy (mermen), and a group of zombies where Tata Temyong and Monica ended up captured in the forest and was brought to Lizardo’s fortress. Lando found refuge in a hut haunted by a vampire, in which Flavio finds and defeats it with his dagger.
Eventually, Lizardo challenged Flavio in a duel where everyone can witness the battle.
