Mga Mata ni Angelita Movie stars Julie Vega as Angelita, a blind young girl who regained eyesight after Virgin Mary gave her eyes to her.
Produced by Larry Santiago Productions and directed by Lauro Pacheco, this blockbuster film was serialized in a radio drama program at DZRH with the same title and featured big stars including Fernando Poe, Jr., Joseph Estrada, Dolphy, Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, among others. It also earned a FAMAS Best Child Actress award for Julie Vega.
Mga Mata ni Angelita Movie Plot Summary
At the start of the movie, Angelita’s adoptive parents Arturo (Amado Cortez) and Belen (Gloria Sevilla) fight over her as the latter want her out of their house because she feels that Angelita is a curse to their misfortunes. When Arturo was killed in an accident, Belen attempted to kill Angelita by bringing her to a cliff and pushing her. Angelita survived and a group of nuns rescued her to their convent.
Inside the convent, Angelita became devoted to the Virgin Mary. Because of this, the Virgin Mary decided to give Angelita her eyes. Angelita left the convent to find her real parents. But during her journey, she met several people with different problems in life. Angelita gave them inspiring words and touched their lives. This includes a confused wife (Vilma Santos), a problematic street sweeper (Nora Aunor). Finally, she found her mother Janet ((Helen Gamboa), and her ex-convict father Conrado (Fernando Poe, Jr).
