Darna at Ang Babaeng Tuod Movie stars Eva Montes as Darna and Gina Alonzo as Lucy alias the Babaing Tuod (Lady of the Dead Root or Wood Witch). Created by Mars Ravelo and serialized in Liwayway Magazine, this fifth Darna movie is produced by People’s Pictures and directed by Cirio H. Santiago, and is the first Darna film in full color.
Apparently, this Darna movie is very much different from the original story, considering that the villain has more exposure than Darna. In fact, Darna only appeared three times in this movie.
It was later learned that People’s Pictures, Inc. was then grooming Gina Alonzo to be its next big star and Eva Montes is a newcomer. In addition, this is also among the earlier Darna movies where Narda is a young girl and therefore is portrayed by another actress, Connie Angeles.
